If you have a dual boot system, XP and 2000, where all your files are located in the 2000 documents folder, then uninstalling XP will not delete the files that are in the 2000 directory.
For general security and precautionary reasons, it is not a bad idea to 'backup' or copy the personal files to a CD DVD or external device.
By the way share your e-mail address with people you know. You are now open to huge amounts of spam mail to the hotmail address listed in your posting!
To avoid spam, disguise (or "munge") your e-mail address.
Use a munged address whenever you post it to a newsgroup, chat room, or bulletin board such as these Newsgroups.
For example, you could give your e-mail address as "someoneATsomwwhereDOTcom" using "AT" instead of "@" an "DOT" instead of ".".
A person can interpret your address, but the automated programs that spammers use cannot.
This is how so many spammers get your address in the first instance.
