Easy. Buy and install a good virus scanner, and keep it up-to-date at all
times. It's the same as with your body: It may be perfectly healthy to start
with but if you expose it to lots of germs and viruses then it will fail in
no time at all.

Note that your existing installation may be damaged beyond repair, hence a
brand new installation may be required.
