Also, I have a nitpick with USB Webcam auto-detection.
Usually, USB non-printing devices are detected as *audio* (not picture or
video) devices, and, as such, the manufacturer's drivers are *required*.
(This is not true of printers, pointing devices, and HID (Human Interface
Device) group devices (joysticks, gamepads, etc.), but is also true of
scanners/multi-function devices, and some mice.)
I have usually not had problems installing USB printers (in fact, as a
whole, printers are my least problematical device to install).
