I have a Dell Latitude C810 Laptop running Windows XP.
Dell service replaced the primary hard drive, motherboard, and memory
recently.
After re-installing Windows XP on the new primary hard drive the system
will not recognize my secondary removable hard drive.
Disk 0 (primary) is fine but my Disk 1 secondary drive is listed as a
foreign (dynamic) drive.
This same secondary drive worked fine on this laptop prior to the
motherboard change. The secondary drive is formatted FAT32.
The secondary drive was never setup as a dynamic drive to my knowledge.
Windows XP will not Import Foreign Disks on a LAPTOP. MS KnowledgeBase says
a desktop will import a dynamic foreigh drive using Disk Management.
While it appears I can convert a dynamic disk to a basic disk this also
appears to delete all data on the disk.
How can I access my secondary disk without loosing all the data on the
Secondary drive?
Can I somehow convince Windows XP that the laptoip is a desktop so I can
import the forieng drive ?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
John
