I tryed that route. I even replaced the NIC with a 3Com,
restarted with the SMC NIC gone. Reinstalled so that both
the SMC and the 3COM were present. It shows both the 3COM
and SMC Connections. The same message appears about the
Hidden connection.

I used "hack" workaround and change the Static IP of the
hidden Connection to DHCP. This allows me use the Static
on the 3COM but, I still would like to know how to remove
the "Hidden Connection".
