If you had looked for "How to Install XP" while you were
looking for the floppy disk set, you'd have found the
instruction to set the CDROM to be the first boot device in
the BIOS and booted the CD. The install program is on the
XP CD, you do not install XP on a clean drive using DOS.

| HELP required.

| I have had to reformat my HDD, and I am trying to load my
| copy of Windows XP home addition. The CD won't 'Auto
| Run'. I have used a Windows 98 Start Up disc to load
| basic CD-ROM drivers, but when I type in x:\setup where X
| is the drive number I get an error message 'Cannot Run
| this programme in DOS Mode. I then scoured the Microsoft
| Website and downloaded 'Setup discs for floppy install'
| This programme creates six floppy discs. I started to
| load them and was doing OK until disc 4 then I got an
| error message saying 'The file abp48qn5.sys is corrupt
| press any key to continue'
| If you follow the prompt the machine just reboots itself.
| All I want to do is load XP any advice. Thanks Chris
