But JEM, that would be really backward, since that means I need to lose (or at minimum, copy first on different machine) all data on that disk. Why is the newly inserted disk not showing on the disk management list, I wonder? My OS in on one of those ATA100 drives I have on the machine, shouldn't that be enough, why is and OS (and that might be an older win98 for example) needed for this "non-showing" HDD? A lot of questions but it seems that installing a storage device such as a HDD should be easier?
Or does it help if I re-install the whole WindowsXP? Maybe that process can find my new HDD? Anybody, JEM?
