MN720 in a Sony Vaio PCG-F707

Trying to install an MN720 wireless network card in a Sony
laptop. The laptop recognizes the card but the Microsoft
installation software just hangs and doesn't seem to see
it.
Anyone got any clues? Calling Microsoft US got me
nowhere. Apart from the language difficulties
communicating with an Indian they refused to talk to me
because I was in the UK!
Any help gratefully accepted.
