you can have dvdrom and a writer on the same ide cable to
ide 1 or 2. the previous answer is a slave and master
prolem. windows needs to see a master on boot up.

then a second connector is in the DVD R Rw, then a
smaller cable goes from the DVD Rom to the motherboard, I
think for the sound. should there be another cable from
the DVD RW do you think? The power connectors are on the
same leads also
