Verifying DMI pool data...then nothing

hello,
Recently i tried adding an IDE raid card to my system
along with a new hard drive, but i came across problems so
i put it back to how it was and the computer got stuck
on 'verifying DMI pool Data....', and i couldn't figure
out why all the settings in the bios i put to defult i
made sure all the cables were properly connected.
So i had a thought i'll try to install windows on the new
harddrive (set it to master) then plug the other h/d (the
one with the stuff that i would like back off it) in after
(put it as slave) and see if i can start up windows then.
I installed windows xp ok on it, then i shut down and
plugged the old one in, but then on restart it gets stuck
on 'verifying DMI pool data' again, one thing i did notice
this time was that just after its checked the IDE devices
it says this quickly, 'PRIMARY IDE CHANNEL NO 80 CONDUCTOR
CABLE INSTALLED', i don't know if that means anything to
do with it but if anyone would be able to help me here i
would be very grateful. (if you want you can email me)

P.s. I am currently using the IDE slot off my Mobo and
missing out my DVD drive at the moment.
