I don't know if this is an insight, but I wouldn't call them options.
They are programs that you can run. Especially convenient to use are
programs that don't require their own options (which we might not
remember, because we are so used to clicking on an icon) , and are in
directories (folders) that are in the Path (because then you don't
have to give the fully qualified name of the prograam file.).
All of the programs you mention have icons, which could be placed on
the Desktop or put in the Quickllaunch bar, if you wanted..
Conversely, all the programs you have icons for could also be launched
from the Run box, if they resided in a directory which is in your Path
(or you put into your path the directory where they are, or you
specified their full name, starting withi C:\ etc. ) and if you could
remember any options or parameters that were needed. For example,
Agent may or may not require options. If your data directories aren't
in the same location (or a subdirectory) as Agent.exe, you have to use
a paramter (option?) to specify where it it. Although since the
Rrun box remembers all this stuff, you'd only have to get it right
once.,
This is my current path, having done nothing intentional to change it:
C:\ path
PATH=C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\Programs\Samsung
PCStudio3;C:\Programs\QuickTime\QTSystem\
In my other XP computer, after some research, I learned how to put C:
and alll of C:\Programs in the path.
