Re: How do I eliminate the need for Log On information?

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Brian,
I tried your method, as I prefer to not load any software, but it seems to
have not worked. After following your instructions, I logged off and then
logged in. Unfortunately (no, I didn't write down the error message) I did
not get logged on: the error message said something to the effect of
'password(s) not matching. I switched around several different combination
of Usernames (Owner or Administrator) and Passwords, but could not get in
until I tried U:Owner & P:(I left this blank). With Owner and password left
blank I was able to get logged on. I am hesitant to try your method again
for fear I will not get logged on. Any suggestions before I try TweakUI?
Thanks.

I recently put my pc back to factory settings. Prior to that, when I
powered on, I was not required to enter a username and password; now I
am. I have never set this up, so I simply press enter to 'Log On'.
Currently, when this window appears, username is listed as 'Owner'; no
password is listed. I am the only user, so no need for administrator
privileges. My question is this: how do I eliminate this window showing
up at power on? I would like to simply power on, and a few seconds later
have my desktop on the screen, ready to use. Thanks in advance for any
and all help provided.

Click Start > Run, type in: control userpasswords2 and press Enter or click
Ok.
Remove the checkmark in the box next to "Users must enter a user name and
password to use this computer".
Click Apply > Ok.
