Re: start up/window pops up/ program files/msn

HI

Is there an easier way to isolate in regedit?
I look under run commands, I get one that says
C;/programfiles/\msnmsnmsnmsn

Highlight the above in Regedit, click File, Export, and save to the
Desktop. Then Copy paste the exported file into a response. I'd like
to see what it actually says, and where it's located in the Registry.

I don't think that is the right one.
Under the other run command I don't find that particular folder?

Under the other run, it lists the startup programs, but I don't seem to find
that one.
thanks

I disabled everything without quotes in msconfig (everything seems ok in

But it keeps popping up.

There are two folders in it, MSNCoreFiles and Toolbar
Yes, but that's not the actual folder the path is trying to access.

In registry I can find several things with a run in it as of yet.
The Run, or Runonce should be in the left pane when the highlighted text
in in the right pane.

I have a niece's computer here, and every time I start it up, it comes

window: MSN, address, C:\Program Files\MSN
It has two subfolders msncorefiles, and toolbar?

I have gone into msconfig a few times, and disabled what I thought it

any suggestions other than doing the rest one at a time?

This is a Dell laptop

The Startup program with a problem could be in another folder, such as

C:\Program Files\MSN Encarta Plus

-or-

C:\Program Files\MSN Gaming Zone

The reason the MSN folder is shown is because the space after "MSN" is
misinterpreted as the end of the path. Everything after that is lost,
or possibly seen as a switch. So you need to look for a program that
loads at Startup that isn't in quotes. Insert the quotes around the
path, but not any switches appended to the command. Besides looking in
MSConfig, also run REGEDIT, search for C:\Program Files\MSN and see if
anything in a Run, or Runonce key needs to be modified with quotes.
Keep pressing F3 to continue the search.

If you think you've found the offending line, post back if you want
before making any change you're hesitant to do.
