Please follow this simple troubleshooting procedure, courtesy of MS MVP Carey Frisch:
1. Download and install the WGA Diagnostic Tool
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=56062
2. After running the WGA Diagnostic Tool, click on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy to Clipboard".
3. Next, visit the following website and create a post in the "WGA Validation Problems" forum and paste the results of the WGA Diagnostic Data in a detailed post: http://social.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/genuinewindowsxp/threads/
4. A WGA troubleshooting specialist will analyze the data and recommend an appropriate solution.

I just did a major upgrade to my Sony Vaio Desktop XP SP3 computer (video
card, ram, larger HD, giga-bit ethernet).
When I rebooted Windows it told me that it was no longer activated (The
original install was pre activated when I purchased the computer). So I
clicked on the activate icon and was informed that my product key was
invalid and I should re-type it. I entered the key from the sticker on the
back of the computer (and it was accepted). Then I tried to activate it
again and got the same message that the product key was invalid.
I removed all of the upgrades and returned the system to the original
configuration, but it still wont activate.
What to do?
Thanks
