RE: Programs sluggish to close

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

You have unresponsive processes...Open event viewer & chk for details
that might be listed as the cause..Also,to shutdown those unresponsive
processes at restart,or shutdown,go to run,type:regedit In regedit,expand:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\open desktop.Locate & L.click AutoEndTasks
Go to edit, modify, set to 1 from 0,close out regedit.

I have searched for topics about this problem but keep finding only one
post with no helpful advice. My problem is twofold and may be related.
First, after using any program on my computer when I try to close it out
it seems to pause for several seconds before it will close. Similarly,
when I try to shut down my computer it again pauses for many seconds and
then I receive an "end program" window for McciAsyncEventMgrWnd. I have
a 2 year old Gateway Laptop and I am running XP on it. This problem is
very recent, a few months.
