Thanks. I was just wondering if anyone had this particular wireless keyboard
and mouse (2000) and had the same problem with the mouse's red light (on
bottom of mouse) never going off, when when computer was shut down.
What's to prevent the batteries from continuously running down and me having
to replace them. If this is the norm, it certainly is 'stupid' as far as I am
concerned. The other wireless mouse units I've used have always shut OFF
after about 8 minutes (+/-).

No idea, but perhaps a bit of head-scratching comfort ..... last year I
taught in a PC lab with wireless desktops (whether MS or not I can't
recall). When the 15 PCs were shut down, 4 or 5 mouse lights kept blinking
as you describe. The hard drives were re-imaged, but the symptom remained
on those PCs. Why? Who knows - however (and here is the possible
comfort) - no deleterious effect was ever noticed.
