How to get file info/properties?

How to get file information/properties stored in audio file (format .AMR, used in speech coding) when I have no corresponding program that can open this file? I need get basic info: sample rate (kHz), bitrate (kbit/s), audio sample size (bit), channels.
Is it possible read this simple info with some scripting? (vbscript)
