It is normal to start a new thread when seeking help for the first time. What you have done can get those wanting to help confused over who they are trying to help and the details of the problem. That's just a note for next time.

A common reason why System Restore fails when you try to use an existing restore point is interference by security software. Norton is a notable offender.
