Thanks, I am chatting with Dell now and they say I should reinstall the OS from the Dell CD..Dell VOSTRO 1510.. Updated BIOS on 5/13/09 with V1510A15.exe...
Wow, none of the updated BIOS versions fix anything with the 1394
adapter. Not surprised by that of course. Is this a built-in 1394
adapter or PCMCIA? It doesn't seem to mention anything about 1394 on
the Vostro page. Only thing else would be to contact Dell about it or
the maker of the 1394 drive.
I'll let you know the results if I can find the CD (I may have to order one)..
The adapter is built in with a 1394 jack on the side of the laptop..
I believe the trouble is with the 1394 adapter or it's connection, since the same external HDD is accepted when plugged in to a USB..
