Hi philo,
To TRY and save the current installation:- Run 'chkdsk /f' from
the Command Prompt (answering 'y' for yes to the question: "....cannot
start....would you like it to run on next reboot?") and afterwards, put the
XP cd that came with your computer into the cd-drive and type 'SFC /SCANNOW'
into the "Run" box and hit [ok]
If, after doing these two very basic things doesn't help get the system
in order, then a reinstall is your only option.

it sounds as if your hard disk has some errors and your operating system

ok so this starts when I'm logging onto my pc, when I enter the username
and password the computer will restart itself, I'll have to re-enter my
username and password about 4 times before it stops restarting and I can
get to my desk top, but the problem doesn't stop there.
Once on my desktop an error message appears with the message saying that
windows has recovered from a serious error, and asks me to send an error
report, along with this message the message below apears.
Windows - No Disk
Exception Processing Message c0000013 Paramaters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c
75b6bf9c
The message also appears when I'm opening programs, web browser or my
security center, whats got me worried is that I can't run a virus scan,
when I try I get a message saying that McAffe has encountered an error
and will have to close.
I've tried surching the support site but with no results, any help you
can give would be great.
The OS I'm using is Widows XP Home Edition and my PC is a Compaq
Presario 061
I agree that it looks like a H/W error
run a RAM test and also run the mfg's harddrive diagnostic
.
