Hello,
I had a similar problem with .NET, I have 1.0 1.1 2.0 3.0 & 3.5 all on my
system, some of these are dependent on earlier versions to run. Aaron
Stebner, his blogs and his verifier tool were immensely helpful. As I
remember, my problem was with 2.0 but the symptom was as described below.
Hope this helps!

Hi I am trying to install a program which tells me it needs Windows
.NET Framework 3.5. I have downloaded the 64 bit version as I am using
Windows XP 64 bit. When I try to install the .NET software it comes
back with an error saying it is unable to install the software and it
does not say why. I have also had problems trying to remove the .NET
software to enable me to re-install it which is strange as it said it
could not install it.
Any ideas what might be causing these problems.
Thanks
This blog may give you a flavor for some things to look at. It
mentions log files used by the installation.

So somewhere in the blog, you might get a hint.
Another tool I found on his livedrive, is this one.
netfx_setupverifier_new.zip
The fun part, is figuring out where the download link is located.
Click an icon, then look for "download" on the details page.

The ZIP has a self extracting file inside. That file includes.
unicows.dll
readme.txt
setupverifier.exe
setupverifier.ini
history.txt
Netfx20TestApplication.exe
Netfx20TestApplication.exe.config
This is a sampling of what is inside setupverifier.ini

Product11=.NET Framework 3.5 SP1
Action3_OS=WIN98,WINME,NT4,WIN2000,WINXP,MCE,TABLET,WIN64XP,WIN2003 and

I don't have any .NET on my install here, so cannot test this stuff :-)
