Hey guys, recently a trojan hit my computer, and I was unable to
get rid of it. My security system supposedly put it in quarantine,
but I don't think is working. I tried doing system restore and it
didn't work, so I scanned system restore and indeed there was a
trojan installed. I tried to do it in safe mode, but nothing is
working, so my last option is to wipe clean my hard drive. I have
four of the five disks for reformatting my hard drive, but I am
missing one. Is there a way I could acquire the missing cd from
Microsoft, or what else can I do. Thanks for your help.
Unfortunately for you - what you seem to have is a recovery set from the
OEM - not from Microsoft.
Windows XP (in most forms) is a single installation CD and product key.
Other applications vary in number of CD/DVDs.
If what you have is an OEM system recovery/restoration set - you would need
to contact said OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) to see what you could
do about obtaining a new set.
