What are you talking about, if doesn't know all the info, don't talk about
it. I just came from work and I'm reading everything, maybe Im not like you
that can be all day long in front of a pc. For the guy talking about the
windows xp cd, I don't have one and the xp it's factory installed in a
partition of the computer that it can't be deleted, so YES it's original and
the license its in the back of the pc. The only thing I wanted was the
command I need to write in the command prompt area to delete or wipe out all
my info, maybe formatting or convert the disk and delete the info using that
step but it's the last time I use this "helpful site", Thank you all for your
interest and wise advise.

Sorry for some of the rude comments here. Read the owner's manual that came
with the laptop. It should give you instructions on how to restore the
operating system from the hidden partition. If you don't have the manual, you
can probably download a .pdf of it from the maker's website. You probably
have to press the F10 or F12 key during startup to begin the reinstall of the
operating system from the hidden partition. All data on the disk should be
"wiped out" by the reinstall, but remember, the data is still on the disk.
It's just been flagged to be written over when the operating system needs
that space. If somebody is determined enough and there is sensitive data on
the disk, it can be recovered. If there is data on the disk that you
absolutely cannot have fall into someone else's hands, I would make a set of
recovery disks from the hidden partition. Buy a new hard drive for the
machine and use the recovery disks to reinstall the operating system. When
you sell the laptop, give the new owner the recovery disks along with it. He
will then have a legitimate operating system on a clean hard drive, and a way
to restore it if he needs to. Then you can destroy the old hard drive so no
one can get your data.

Wow! You actually waste that much time to reply? OP doesn't even care to

thank you all for your help.

If you don't have the installation media ("don't have a disck"), just
how are you going to reinstall Windows XP? You can wipe the hard disks.
Without the installation media, all you have for sale is the hardware.
Since you are planning to install Windows XP (which means you are also
including that copy with a legitimate license) then you *do* have the
installation media.

You can "keep the xp" if it is a retail version of Windows XP. If it is
an OEM version, its license sticks to the first computer on which it is
installed. That means the OEM license follows the hardware. If you
sell the hardware then the OEM license goes with it (or you could trash
it and just sell the bare hardware).

I can't tell just what "creative licensing" you are attempting with the
sale of your computer. If you have a retail copy of Windows, you are
giving it away with the hardware to include in the sale. If you have an
OEM copy of Windows, it has to go with the hardware. In either case,
the result is that you do NOT have that copy of Windows.

If all you want to do is sell the bare hardware then boot from a floppy
diskette and use a drive erasing utility. You could get a bootable DOS
floppy (http://www.bootdisk.com/) and use its FORMAT command but that
does not wipe the hard disk well enough to protect your personal data.
Use something like Killdisk (http://www.killdisk.com/). It's free.

Wiping the [partitions in all the] hard disks eliminates you
distributing a pirated copy of Windows. Even if you decide to include a
legitimate copy of Windows with the hardware (which means you won't have
that copy after the sale), you really don't need to install it. A buyer
won't know if it is a clean install of Windows and they really should do
their own fresh installation. If the computer came with a customized
installation CD then you need to include it. This may be needed to
ensure all the drivers and included software (other than Windows) is
available to the buyer. The Acer manual should tell you how to restore
your system back to its factory setup.

Before considering how to wipe the drives, first consider just how you
are going to reinstall the operating system so it is usable and is a
legitimate license.
