Re: SFC in retail version of XP?

You are most welcome, Gramma. And do as you stated - in addition to: Each one, Teach one.

Glad to have crossed paths. :o)

Running at command prompt didn't help either; still needed original disk in
Files Protection.

After reading other posts on same subject, it appears that my problem is
related to SP3, but suggestions on slipstreaming, making reg entries, all
seem to be beyond my current needs (Did not find an I386 folder at C drive;
however found it on the WIN XP retail version disk. Computer Search shows
*15* i386 folders but no winnet.exe nor winsys32.exe).

So, as they say "If it works, don't fix it!" Therefore, I will just wait
until I need a SFC...and maybe at that time get Windows 7 or 8.

And thanks for your kind words, Kelly. I am really a Greatgrandmother (of
3), and being alone, I just play with computing to keep the brain stimulated!
I *will* keep "going" as I'm not ready to give up yet! : -)

Try this instead:

Start/Run: cmd

sfc /scannow

Oh and by the way, go GRAMMA!
