Thanks for responding. Yes I did google for "XP hangs at MUP.Sys" I tried
every suggestion listed by tons of people who have had or are still
having
same problem. None worked. I noticed the ssytem would just automatically
shut down after booting to certain point (MUP.sys) being the last display
on the screen. As a last resort, I removed the hard drive and plugged it
into another desktop running XP... did chkdsk /f. The system bootted up
Ok
afterwards. However a certain problem remain... the system sort of
freezes
after running for say 5- 10 minutes. I am trying to fix that right now...

This is may be a hardware issue and not software. You can determine this
by:

1. Booting with a Linux Live CD (I like Knoppix best but there are others)
and seeing how the system behaves.

2. Doing hardware diagnostics, starting with the hard drive.

3. If all hardware tests turn out OK, then since you are unable to boot
into
Windows at all back up your data using the Linux Live CD (or by pulling
the
data off from your other computer) and do a clean install of Windows.
