Well, it's important for you to know that if you have SP3
installed, and if you ever need to perform a Windows XP Repair
Install, you will need in your possession a Windows XP SP3 CD
(either full or update CD).
We had a WinXP SP3 computer where the old motherboard crapped out.
Couldn't buy another of the same motherboard, so we needed to put
the SP3 hard drive in a new system as fast as possible.
Of course, the HD will refuse to boot with a new motherboard
without performing a Windows XP repair install. We booted to our
Windows XP SP2 CD, but the WinXPSP2 CD refused to do a repair
install on a WinXPSP3 hard drive!!!
We had run out and pay $150 for an SP3 CD to perform the repair
install. It was a waste of time and money!

If you believe had to buy a Windows XP CD with SP3 integrated - you
were wrong. You could integrate yourself, have a friend do it, etc.
The waste of money was due to a lack of research - nothing more. ;-)

Hence, the reason for my post!
Agreed - and thank you for sharing your mistake so that others might learn
from it.
Nothing wrong with that!
