Usually something running in the background will prevent standby. Check
taskmanager for anything running.
If no luck, shut down/prevent loading of a few programs at a time till
shutdown occurs to find culprit.

Running XP/SP3-- In the past I have set up to enter screen saver followed
later with shut down monitor followed by stand by--I have 2 desktops which
have had these settings for some time without problems.
Recently both will go through the first two stages but will not enter
stand by.
Any suggestions as to what I might do to correct will really be
appreciated--Thanks in advance --Mel
