Hi,

Yes I agree with you that the CPU is overheat because my motherboard chip fan is faulty.

If you need a replacement fan, and you live in the United States, you
can purchase a replacement here for $7.50 . They are currently out
of stock, but will probably be receiving some soon.

Also, in some cases, if you contacted Asus Support, they
would send a replacement fan (within the warranty period).
That was for the cases where large numbers of prematurely
defective fans were provided with particular Asus motherboards.
You'd provide your motherboard serial number to them over
the phone, and a fan in that case, was sent directly to you. The
first two characters of the serial number, tell the year and
month of manufacture.

So there are some solutions besides letting the
Northbridge cook.

There are also heatpipe Northbridge coolers, and the
type you select in that case, depends on whether your
video card gets in the way or not. Any time you use
a solution like this, it is your responsibility to
make sure there is room mechanically for it to fit,
and also that any holes, any dimensions are correct
for your situation.

If your CPU fan has a little bit of air blowing towards
the Northbridge, and it hits the fins on that Thermalright
heatsink, you may not need to attach a fan to it.
Typically, adding a fan to the Northbridge heatsink,
makes it three times as effective as passive cooling,
which is why a fan failure makes such a difference.
