The issue is random and can be dealt with by using control+alt+delete to
logoff and then back on. This issue has been seen on more than one machine.
It is an annoyance to have to deal with. A fix would be useful.
The machines are relatively new with SP3 installed.

When I log into my computer sometimes after I enter my user/pass, I just
see
a blank screen and my icons and desktop do not load.
I have to control+alt+delete and log on and then log back into the PC to
get
the desktop to appear.
What causes this and how can it be fixed so it does not occur again? This
is on Windows XP logging into an Active Directory domain.
Could be some malware. I suggest you use System Restore to go back to a
healthy state.
