It's a shot in the dark, but is your system partition marked "active"?

I am still trying to solve the problem, despite trying many different
configurations the bios seems to need to look at the CD Rom with a Win XP
Pro
disk before going to the SATA hard disk and booting into XP. Most
frustrating.
