OMG OMG !!! It's WORKING finally !!
I found the PROBLEM... The GD battery pack in the laptop was causing
all this freeze up and cursor and keyboard and system freeeeezing up
problems !!!
Not any virus or spyware or anything
I was already running for couple years mainly using the AC plug
but the battery was working for good amount of first few years - bc could
pull the ac plug and walkaround with laptop and still work fine for 5-10
minutes
but about 1 montgh ago I noticed quickly that pulling the ac plug the
laptop would immediatley go DEAD and blank out (power off endofstory) and
(Yellow led lite on front of laptop was no longer comin On). So I knew the
battery looked like it was useless to holding any more charges.
(I thought really this freeze up was more related to the high heating up
undeside of laptop ... it gets pretty hot - but been doing that almost from
start 3-4 years ago... I think all laptops do this too )
So.... out of blue - tonite I just tried unlocking/detaching the Battery
completely from underneath the laptop and with AC plug still as usual
plugged in (the Green little led lite on front comes on as usual - no longer
any Yellow battery led lite comes on)
and the laptop powers up
and PRESTO !!! AMAZING !!!!
Now.. suddenly...
I can EVEN bypass the disk chking blue screen by hitting any key....
Now I know I've made progresss since the laptop is responding immediately
to the keyboard EVEN before Windows gets loaded and even before get to
the Users Logon screen.
Once I get the Logon screen I can FINALLY move the cursor (finger)
around anywhere on screen and successfully logon as Adminstrator or
regular user...
And once Windows desktop comes up and nw turns which seems much fasterrr
now... I can freely move the arrow cursor (like normal ) finally anywhere
around the screen and EVERYTHING is runnning normal again.
ALL I need to do now - is go back and re-enable the Windefender, Spybot
services in Startup and get the full Normal bootup to come back on.
And then re-apply the MS Security updates/patches will have failed over
last few days. And re-run a FULL Spybot and Windefender scan.
And then re-create my Restore Points. (even tho that was useless as a
recovery method - they all gone blown away duyring this cursor freeeze up
fiasco)
(Thanks Microsoft !)
*******
Sooooo - Anybody out there - TRY pulling out your Battery pack if it
has any non-charging or issues and try running off AC plug all by
itself !!!!!!!!!
*******
Geeez - I would have thought the GD Battery driver sw would have handled
this !!
And of course in the Device troubleshooter windows it says the both
Battery drivers a re working properly ! Yeh SURE !!! Great sw Microsoft !
I'm surprised NOONE out there hasn't already run into this on these
crappy Laptops and could have advised this to me and others long ago
Thanks Dave for the tips....
I wll go back with my:
1. WinDefender - free and works
2. Spybot Search & Destroy free and works good
..... and doubtful will go with Windows OneCare - Microsoft is just
trying to crowbar $45 subscription out of me and counting the days down to
shut me off from its use.... great!
Thanks everyone! Hope you learn from my pain!

There isn't anything wrong with the Defender and Spybot applications, they.
are both fine for detecting Spyware, although neither are on the
leading/bleeding edge of malware removal, but you apparently have *NO* virus
protection. That's why I suggest at this point run an on-line scanner, which
will not interfere with any other security you have installed currently or
may install in the future. You should try to clean up any possibility of a
current infection before you attempt to install additional installed and
permanent Anti-virus security, as Shenan Stanley speaks of in the above post.
Surfing without having a real-time installed Anti-virus is just asking for
an infection, and the odds are pretty good that one has already found you.
Both of those on-line scanners are well known and trustworthy AV&AS
scanners, but if you feel nervous about it, Microsoft's own on-line Safety
Scanner is also available at:
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm
I didn't suggest Microsoft's before since you've already run the
anti-spyware component of that scanner by running Windows Defender, so you'd
simply be cycling through the same spyware database rather than using another
publisher's malware signature database. However, I would run more than one
of these on-line cleanup scanners, as no one of them alone detects
everything. Good luck.

Hi
Thanks to you both for replying
But I made a mistake I alraedy have Svc Pak 3 installed.
Anyhow... so that idea is out.
But these two listed anitvirus programs Dave... I have to load and save
more "risky??" sw and put it on my laptop ?
I guess have to trust you and your suggestions and both of these two sw
packages - I have no idea or else to turn at this point.
Do you really think this is a virus or malware ?
I really liked trusted Spybot and thought Windefender is goo d too .
Thanks.. will wait for your reply

Windows Defender and Spybot are both Antispyware applications. Do you have
any installed Antivirus? If not, check your system for virus infections with
an online scanner:

My system freezes up totally once get to the desktop icons after logging in
Pls see other recent post - sometimes cant even log in too.
I have Acer laptop Aspire 3000 with MS windows XP w/ Srvc pak 2 and all
recent patches uptodate and use WindowDefender and Spybot for virus control.
QUESTION: Will it help clear up my freeze up problem - IF I load in the
latest Srvc pak 3 ?
Can you download and apply Svc Pak 3 from FailSafe mode ?
I cannot get laptop to run fully in normal full user mode - the cursor
just totally freezes up and no keyboard keys work either - end up
hitting the Pwr button.
Im thinking maybe the newer Svc pak 3 will overlay and fix/fillin any
corrupt or missing windows xp files ...
Are the Srvc pak that smart ? Will it do this like Im thinking ?
Any help appreciated
Thanks
