If load new Srvc Pak 3 to fix freeze up ?

My system freezes up totally once get to the desktop icons after logging in
Pls see other recent post - sometimes cant even log in too.
I have Acer laptop Aspire 3000 with MS windows XP w/ Srvc pak 2 and all
recent patches uptodate and use WindowDefender and Spybot for virus control.

QUESTION: Will it help clear up my freeze up problem - IF I load in the
latest Srvc pak 3 ?

Can you download and apply Svc Pak 3 from FailSafe mode ?

I cannot get laptop to run fully in normal full user mode - the cursor
just totally freezes up and no keyboard keys work either - end up
hitting the Pwr button.

Im thinking maybe the newer Svc pak 3 will overlay and fix/fillin any
corrupt or missing windows xp files ...

Are the Srvc pak that smart ? Will it do this like Im thinking ?
