This is a WinXP-specific, Microsoft newsgroup. OE is the default newsreader in WinXP. I'm not gonna change nothing.

I have no idea what this thread is about now that you've snipped previous
posts from your replies. Are you telling us that you do not have an
anti-virus application installed?

It's just this one utility that is defaulted to off on boot. I can
re-enable it from the System tray or from the registry, but it's off
again next time. I found one other report of someone with the same
issue, and the answer was permissions. But if the permissions keep
getting reset each boot, I can't think of what else to do.
I'm sorry, maybe you don't understand how a delimiter works with a
faulty MS mail client. In YOUR post you replied ABOVE my quote.
Because you're using an MS mail client that IMPROPERLY inserts a
delimiter in your sig when top posting, my mail client (that properly
removes anything below the delimiter) caused everything below your reply
to be removed. And the REAL kicker is this; MS clients add a delimiter
incorrectly when top posting, but DON'T remove anything below the
delimiter when replying, like a proper newsreader does. Go figure.

It doesn't do any good asking users of these faulty MS mail clients to
either stop using a sig (which inserts the delimiter), or top posting,
OR use QUOTEFIX which fixes the bug. Because most people take it
personally and get upset, when really the issue is just the bug in OE/WM.

But to answer your question, no, I didn't state I don't have an AV
program. I said, "I don't use any of those (that you mentioned)." I
use AntiVir.

I can make other changes to the registry that stick. It's just this one
key that keeps getting reset, regardless of what I do.

It's not accommodating me, it's just fixing your broken mail client.
See, you took it personal, and I didn't attack you. I just pointed out
a bug and you went on the defensive.

But your last two replies beg this question. WHY did you NOT use a sig
on the last two replies? Is it because you are fully aware of what the
MS clients do and corrected it? As you can tell, I wasn't complaining
about top posting, only the incorrectly added delimiter. So thank you
for not inserting your sig for the last two replies. NOW nothing useful
in the thread was removed, because of your thoughtfulness.

If you have any other suggestions on fixing this, I would welcome them.

Just because it's an MS group doesn't mean ANY newsreader is a "default". I'm surprised you would even make a comment like that.

But the reality is that you DID change something. Your last 3 posts to me do NOT have a sig with the delimiter, which has corrected the issue you accused me of (snipping the thread). You can see for yourself the difference, as nothing has been removed like your first post that contained your sig and the delimiter at the top.

I do appreciate you doing that if not on a permanent basis, just in the conversation we had.
