Background information on Stop Error message

0x00000050: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
(Click to consult the online MSDN article.)
Requested data was not in memory. An invalid system memory address was
referenced. Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video
RAM) or incompatible software (including remote control and antivirus
software) might cause this Stop message, as may other hardware problems
(e.g., incorrect SCSI termination or a flawed PCI card).

0x0000007E: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
A system thread generated an exception which the error handler did not
catch. There are numerous individual causes for this problem, including
hardware incompatibility, a faulty device driver or system service, or
some software issues. Check Event Viewer (EventVwr.msc) for additional
information.

How to Troubleshoot a Stop 0x0000007E Error in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330182/en-us
Stop:0x0000050 ( 0xFFFFEFF8, 0x00000000, 0x8053A4CC, 0x00000000).
What appears, if anything, on this line? It could be something like the
example below if it's there.
Partmgr.sys - Address F86FF4AB base at F86F0000
Same question for the Stop:0x000007E error?
Have you made any recent hardware / software changes?
What is your network card?
Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties,
Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?
If you think it might be related to your user profile you do not need to
delete the account you test. Just create a new one and see if you still
get the errors. Remember you may have more than one problem.
A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Thank you for your reply Gerry. the problem started with the following
STOP: 50( FFFFEFF8, 00000000, 8053A4CC, 00000000),
It came up with this code consistently originally while I was logged
on and became more frequent. Then I decided to fix it. After many
trials and downloads it would no longer let me log on without a blue
screen. The codes now vary but here is an example
STOP:7E(C0000005, 8065C447, F7C771BD0, F7C7118CC) it is always a 7E
error but the code differs.
In safe mode I can actually log on but it remains fragile. For
example I tried going to my router address with Internet Explorer
resulting in a crash every time. I guess one way out is to delete
that account and start anew, but I lose all my emails. Perhaps if I
could access the settings file, if I knew how, that may prove useful.

Please post a copy of the Stop Error report.
Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Keep pressing
the F8 key during Start-Up and select option - Disable automatic
restart on system failure. Do not re-enable automatic restart on
system failure. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.
Do the errors occur if you boot to safe mode?

I have the same problem as Karl. I get a blue screen if I try to log
on to my account, but can log on to my wifes account without a
problem. I have isolated all the drivers as instructed by microsoft
to no avail. I have updated with SP2 and SP3 from the original XP
with the same result. The "error" log tells me it is an application
causing the problem, but does not identify it. I have had plenty of
interesting experiences along the way which would create an
interesting novel.
I have been having the same sort of problem, but with a twist.
My computer only crashes with the below happening when I am the
user logged in.
Anyone other user account on this computer works fine and doesn't
crash.

Thanks All
I'll run thru Uncle John's questions by the numbers, I think they
address the others as well.
1. Sp2 - yes
2. Norton -Symantec - No Have mcafee but same thing happens after
uninstalling.
3. 1 drive on the system with 30gb of a 60gb drive remainig.
"custom size" is checked-with "initial" = 384 and "max" = 768
I have 768 RAM on the system.
thanks for you help

Louise,
This fault can be caused by a combination of using Norton
Antivirus 2004/2005 or SymantecAV 20O4/ 2005 with SP2 installed
and the Virtual Memory settings are other than the original
default. There is a way of fixing this problem but before going
further could you tell us
1 Do you have SP2 installed?
2 Do you have Norton Antivirus or Symantec Antivirus installed?
3 What is the Virtual memory Setting for your ThinkPad? To check
this go Start\Control Panel\System\Advanced Tab.
a In the Performance "Visual Effects, processor scheduling,
memory usage, and virtual memory"box click on the Settings button
b Click on the Advanced Tab under Performance Options
c In the "Virtual Memory" box click on the change button. You
will see a list of all your drives, the first will be
highlighted and in the box below you will see if it has Paging
File size for selected drive. It can be Custom size, System
managed size, No paging file. Note what these setting is and if
there is more than one drive displayed left click on the next to
get the data.
Post the results so I can see if it is useful to post more
information on the fix.

For the last month or so when left on and unattended my
Thinkpad T23 shuts down and the dreaded blue screen appears.
When I open the event log I see system error category 102.
Sending this error to microsoft I get back
"PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGE_AREA" but now indication on how to fix
it.
The non-page area is part of RAM used for code that is so
essential it may not be paged out. The system code there is
very unlikely to be faulty, the trouble will either be hardware
(RAM) or may be third party software that has installed itself
there. I have heard of this arising with certain Norton
software - if you have installed any, especially the Security
suite, uninstall it and see if the problem goes away
