Many thanks for your very detailed reply - it will take me a while to work
through all of it. But I should reply to the point on GDI. I have already
tried tackling this issue by changing the hardware acceleration and by also
downloading a new gdi file. Neither worked. And also when I downloaded the
trial version of Office 2007, I had the same problem and then the problem
file there was another one. ("Faulting application winword.exe, version
12.0.6308.5000, stamp 47e547c5, faulting module ogl.dll, version
12.0.6325.5000, stamp 4888e21c, debug? 0, fault address 0x0001fd30.")
I have scanned with NOD32 antivirus and also used Spybot S&D, I have deleted
temporary files and disk defraged...

I have posted this question on the Office discussion group and after some
discussion, I was advised that it's probably a Windows problem...
After several years of using Office 2003 (Small Business edition) without
problem, I am now unable to open any Office programmes which have
graphics/photos in them. This affects Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher and
I now also have trouble printing pictures from Windows Photo & Fax viewer.
I have tried the following:
1. uninstalling and reinstalling the entire Office suite of programmes,
2. installing all the latest updates,
3. scanned for viruses, spyware etc.

0x0007a2c9.
7. using Word in Safe Mode and it still gives the same problem...
8. opening an Office document in Windows Safe Mode and the same problem
occurs...
9. System File Checker - which did not come up with any errors.
10. Dependency Walker and it gives an error message "No DOS or PE
signature found. This file is not a valid 32bit or 64bit Windows module".
Can anyone help me sort this out? It's extremely frustrating!

This can indicate one of many reasons why the GDI causing a problem!
1- Your Video Card ( Hardware/Software) 2- Monitor (fresh rate not set
right) 2- Software outdated or Corrupt/damaged and you need to check if your
GDI version up2date.
Try to repair your Office Suite and run the officeupdates site to download
any security updates available.

Download Platform SDK Redistributable: GDI+

Reboot your machine after the installation of the update twice!
Then run a through scan by doing the earlier cleaning steps and run this toll:

Open your Search and search for gdiplus.dll, you will find it in this

Try to capture the cause inreal time by using:

Run a thorough scan by doing the following steps:
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
