Re: Drives in "My Computer" fail to display

The date and time was 12/9/2008 12:35 PM, and on a whim, Gerry pounded out on the keyboard:

WinXP, Media Edition w/ SP 3
After bootup everything works fine, but My Documents and all drives take an extra 5 minutes to be displayed. Tried several System Restores from before the trouble started, but no fix.
Does anybody have a sugestion for a fix?
Thanks,
Gerry

Hi Gerry,

Do you have any mapped drives that aren't available? That can slow down Explorer considerably while it seeks to connect.

If not, have you run a complete disk check using chkdsk?
