Anyway, I nolonger have a problem.

Installing into a virtual machine sounds like a smart way to test things.

don't use RealPlayer so I didn't bother digging around in its options to
see if something included in their software would initiate opening a
Rhapsody account and loading their alert monitor. So while RealPlayer
seems a likely candidate, it doesn't look like RealPlayer installs
Rhapsody. There might be a different Real download that incorporates
Rhapsody with RealPlayer. I don't know what they shove in their Plus
(paid) version of RealPlayer. After all, RealNetworks is the parent for
both Real.com and Rhapsody.com. That's why Rhapsody shows up in
RealPlayer's Media Guide and links to Rhapsody in their Real Guide page
(the default page shown in RealPlayer unless you configure otherwise).
If I used RealPlayer, I'd set it to default to the Now Playing page so I
wouldn't have to see all their spam-ridden pages.
