I intermittently have a problem with my computer during startup. It seems to give me a window for NForce followed by Windows XP window showing a a bar like my system is loading. The next window is where I have the random freeze problem. This window has a left and right panel. The panel on the left includes Microsoft Windows XP/To begin, click your user name. The panel on the right shows my user name/and the number of Unread Mail Messages. Please understand that there is only one user on this computer.
I don't know how to determine why my system freezes intermittently at this point.
Windows XP Professional/SP-3
I know that I probably am missing some details in this message that would help you help me solve this problem. If so, please identify the information needed, and how to collect that information.
Check in Event Viewer.
Click Start==>Run... then type (or copy/paste) "eventvwr.msc" (w/out
quotation marks) into the box, then click the 'OK' button.
I did check the Event Viewer/System log and nothing our of the normal appears on this log. The only warning appearing on this log has to do with W32Time. This entry only appears occasionally.
The Event Viewer/Application log shows one warning that appears several times a day---Userenv (Event ID 1054). I am investigating what this warning.
