Mike Hall's advice was excellent but I'd just like to add that there is probably a bunch of optional software bundled with the mouse. I'm thinking not only of apps but of soft to add "special functions" to keys...press a key, open OE...press a different key, open IE. Like that. You may or may not want to do that but you don't need that soft for normal use of the KB and mouse.
