And how does that preclude that the product would be listed in the
Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel?
Or were you addressing how to reinstall it? Well, it would be part of
the bundleware crap included in the image restore CD included with your
computer. To get it back means having to overwrite the partition with
the OS with the original image which means you lose everything in that
partition.
Besides, if it came pre-installed, it is highly likely to be a trial
version which expires after some date. So even if you did manage to
reinstall that trial version, it's going to expire, anyway.
You'll have to ask whomever built or sold the computer with the
pre-installed software to find out how to reinstall it. The manual
might tell you how to do that, too.
Have you checked with your ISP to see if they provide their customers
with a free copy of a commercialware security package? My ISP (Comcast)
gives its customers the McAfee Security Suite for free (as long as they
remain Comcast customers). I tried it for awhile. Was better than
Norton. Still got in my way. Got rid of it and went with freeware
security programs.
