Re: XP Memory Issue

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

You need to use a better application than Spybot, this app only detects
cookies and you may need one that can detect more serious bugs, install
"Malwarebytes Anti-Malware" or "A Squared Free". Also look in the Run
registry keys and delete the related value, also look in the MSConfig
Startup programs; Start\Run\type; msconfig and hit Enter, next go to the
Startup tab and uncheck all programs with exception of the antivirus. Also
use "CCleaner" to delete Cookies, Temporary Internet files, System Temp and
user Temp files, and other useless junk. These files can at times cause the
kind of problems you describe, so don't skip this part.

Check the Run keys and delete unknown values, you'll find an antivirus value
so be carefull what you delete.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I have a problem with XP that at first I thought was a memory issue
but now I'm not sure.
What happens is after using XP for a while I can't open any new
programs or new tabs in a browser or even right click on the desktop.
Attempting these things will give no response. If I close one or two
programs then things return to normal for a short while, until the
issue returns and I need to close more programs. This continues until
the only option left is to restart, which fixes the problem for a few
hours.

At first I though XP was failing to clear its memory which become full
over time. However, the system resources are mostly free and I tried
using a shortcut to forcefully clear the memory "C:\WINDOWS
\system32\rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks" but it made no
difference.

I've also tried running spybot but it found nothing.

Any advise you can give me would be greatly appreciated as this is
getting quite annoying!
