I have an Acer Aspire RC500, it has the facility to veiw & record Anologe TV.
I ran a driver udate and ever since then the picture has been dreadfull.
Tried rolling back driver but that didn't work/cure the problem, tried
uninstalling drives but the reinstalled ones are the same. Hence the desire
to system restore. While the System Restore problem neads to be sorted out
the issue with the application is probably not worth the effort it. My
problem is I am like a dog with a bone when it comes down to it!!

Sorry, I can't help with your particular problem. But my guess is that
System Restore wouldn't solve that problem, and using it to go back
three months might very cause you additional problems.

I certianly take your point but it is the only way I know how to possibly
solve the issue with one of my applications.

What application? What's the issue?

Will have a look at suggestions.
Out of curiosity what sort of problems may arise?

Ken thanks for reply
It was working the in the past!
Access it via System Tools > System Restore. There are plenty of points to
select from but they all end up with the Message ' your computer cannot be
restored to ****. No changes have been made'
I am fast running out of time for me to restore to what I believe to be a
good point in July.

You're welcome. I can't personally help with the problem, but I
recommend Bert Kinney's site at http://bertk.mvps.org/html/srfail.html

Moreover, I don't think going to a restore point as far back as July
is a good idea. I recommend a week or two's worth of restore points,
but the number you get with XP's default allocation is too large. If
you go back too far, you tend to get the registry out of synch with
other files on the drive, so three months worth of restore points
aren't really useful, and going to a three month old restore point is
likely to create problems for you.

Please tell us exactly what you do to try to restore, and exactly what
happens when you try, including the exact verbatim text of any
messages you receive.
