Re: HELP! CONTINOUS REBOOT AFTER UN-INSTALLING SP3

Hi Jaelani, I do appreciate your assistance, unlike the other guys who are
trying to be comedians. I can try what you suggested, but my machine did come
an XP CD rom, instead it was pre-installed. I do have System recovery disc's
but those will erase the entire HDD, and put the machine back to original
condition, which means I'll loose everything, my files, music, etc. Do I have
options?
Please let me know,
thanks,
JHB

Try restoring the RPCRT4.DLL backup file from C:\WINDOWS
\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE folder. Since the current system is unbootable,
boot using the Windows XP CD-ROM and choose Recovery Console. You'll
need your Administrator user password in order to proceed.

The first thing you have to do is to check the system disk via the
CHKDSK command. Just type CHKDSK and press ENTER. It will take some
time depending on how many files in your disk so please be patient.

Once it's done, restore the above file by using the below command:
COPY C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE\RPCRT4.DLL C:\WINDOWS
\SYSTEM32\RPCRT4.DLL

Then type EXIT to reboot the PC and boot into your harddisk (not your
CD-ROM).

If the blue screen appears, please describe the exact error message
like you did earlier. It really help troubleshooting a system. The
message should be different time time, if it does occurs.

My desktop machine is about 4 years old, has Win XP Home Edition that came
pre-installed, P4 HT with 1.5 GB of ram, ever since I updated to SP3 a couple
of month ago, I've had nothing but problems. I decided to un-install it, and
did a clean un-install using add remove programs from the control panel to
completely remove SP3, and I did reboot the system. However, the machine now
goes into a continous and endless reboot. I get as far as the WinXP logo, and
then it reboots again. I tried starting the system in safe mode, but that did
not work. I disabled the auto restart, and received the following error
message:
"Stop: C0000221 bad image checksum. The image rpcrt4..dll is possibly
corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum"

Did removing SP3 kill my system? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
JHB
