This could possibly be a security/sharing issue
Assuming this is XP Pro and without much information given I would try
this as a simple first attempt to access the folder/files
Right click the folder in question
Then go down to and left click on sharing and security
Click the security tab
You will want to make sure that your administrator name is in the top
window and that if your an administrator of the computer
administrators has full control allow permission.
Make sure that full control is checked in the permissions for
administrator in the lower window below.
If you are not the administrator.
You will want to make sure that your username is in the top window.
You can add youself to the upper window by clicking on Add just below
the top window (Group or Usernames)
Click advanced
Click Find
Look for your username in the list and left click on it
Click OK
Then click OK again to bring you back to the Security tab
You will now see your username in the of Usernames list
Click on your username
In the bottom window put a check in the checkbox beside Full Control
under the ALLOW column
Click on apply then ok
Now try to access your folder in question in windows explorer
Hope this helps

When I click on my folders the message simply states "Folder is
not accessible." It doesn't say why or anything else. What do you
think happened?? As far as backing up my files from now on,
I've got that covered. Any advice would be so very helpful. Thank
you.

I was having some difficulties booting up Windows so I was
looking thru the options on the screen. I accidentally pressed
to
REPAIR Windows, and it started the process. I aborted about 30
seconds later. I never did fix the Win XP issue, instead I
hooked
up that hard drive to another computer so I can get to my
files, but I can only open SOME of my files. The other files
are
not accessible. Does anyone know if that partial Repair damaged
them ?? Does anyone know how to make these files accessible
again
?? They are photo and video files. Thank you so very much.
What exactly do you mean with "no accessible"? What error message do you get
when you try to open them? (Verbatim, please!).
Can you restore these files from your backup? If you don't have any backups
then now is the time to implement a backup scheme for your important files.
A 2.5" disk in an external USB case would be a low cost but highly effective
backup medium.
