Not sure if my first post got through, so I am sending again

I have been assisting a friend to sort his laptop out and we have a
problem with a Windows update.
Every time we try to install the update it fails and comes back in the
Windows update icon, ready to install, but also told us we have the wrong
version of IE.

The Laptop is running Windows XP with SP3 and IE 7

The nuisance update is :-

Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP (KB953838)

I have had a quick look on the MS website, and find this patch dates back
to June 2008.

There is a tick box to say ignore this update, but even though I have
ticked this, it still comes back ready to install.
