I access my compter remotely and use an XP password to provide at least
minimal security. If there is a power outage, I have the BIOS set to start
the computer when power is restored. I also use a
program to force a reboot if a program hangs which results in my not being
able to access it. When it reboots, either after a power outage or a
forced reboot, it stops at the password prompt before
it loads Internet conectivity, which means that I can't access it
remotely. Is there any way to get it to load Internet connectivity BEFORE
the password prompt? TIA.

Here is a possible workaround:
Have the computer boot using TweakUI
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx to
enter the password on reboot. Set the screensaver to its minimum activation
time of 1 minute and require password to come out of screensaver (it is the
same as the boot password.)
While not totally secure because someone can reboot the computer and until
the screen saver kicks in the computer would be accessible it will work as I
use the same system on my home computer.
You should also have the computer on a fairly large UPS and just have the
"box" on it without monitor or any other device plugged into it other than
whatever devices you use for internet connection.
There may be other ways but for free, this does work. Hope it helps, let us
know.
