My entire post to you was a challenge to do the right thing. I didn't call
you an A** hole, I asked you if you ARE one, because the evidence pointed
that way, and challenged you to prove that you aren't. You failed.
For the record, you and Ron "settled (your) differences" by Ron mildly
chastising you for your absolutely rude post, and even following up with
you. That's the kind of guy Ron is, but it doesn't excuse your rudeness. You
should thank him for that, in addition to apologizing for the initial rude
post.
FYI, the MVP Award is for past contributions. It is clearly stated that our
only "obligation" is to an NDA. We are otherwise free to act and post as we
see fit. Which is what I've ALWAYS done. These days I have a short fuse and
I go off on people who piss me off, mostly ingrates and willful idiots. But
that's only one out of every ten or twenty times. The rest of the time, I
"behave" myself.
If MS decides I don't deserve the MVP Award this year because of my attitude
towards idiots and a** holes, that's their right. Meanwhile, I've dumped
"political correctness" entirely. I'm tired of it, and whether I get the
Award this year or not, I'll STILL be here, saying whatever I please,
helping people who need and deserve it, calling out jerks about their rude
behaviors, and even going starkers just for the fun of it. I KNOW when I'm
being an A** hole and it's entirely deliberate.
But this wasn't one of those cases, and if you had any common sense and
honesty you'd know that.

I would like to suggest that you educate yourself a bit on what the MVP
Award actually is. It's a simple acknowledgement of past contributions and
carries no responsibilities on the part of the awardee to act or behave in
any manner other than as relates to the NDA. NOBODY has any business
trying to tell an MVP how to do what they do. By definition, they know how
to do it quite well.
In MS NGs, the phrase, "Already answered in..." has ALWAYS indicated
another Microsoft NG unless otherwise noted. Anyone but a newbie would
know that Ron was referring to a Microsoft NG. Anyone but a newbie would
know how to locate that group. That suggests to me that you're a total
newbie... except most newbies know they don't know how things work and
simply ask questions to find out, whereas you felt the need to *chastise*
someone who's been working these groups longer than all but a handful of
people (and most of the rest of that handful are "retired".) Newbies of
that sort usually fall under the category of "Ignorant A** hole". Is that
what you are?
Or do you think perhaps an apology is due?

Which Help_and_Support are you referring to? The built in XP Help and
Support? A newsgroup? A Microsoft KB article?
I realize that the MVPs often see the same question for which THEY might
know the answer and/or exactly where the question might have already
been addressed.
I also realize that answering the same questions over and over again can
be frustrating. (I worked for Microsoft PSS in the mid-90s.)
Still, nobody is forcing anyone here to be an MVP. If an MVP feels that
he or she is 'burning out,' maybe it's time for them to take a break.

I use WIN XP Pro and have a question about an annoyance in the "open ",
"Save", or "Save As" dialog box that appears with just all programs

It seems the "open ", "Save", or "Save As" dialog box defaults to the
"List" view to show files. I all ways have to change to the "Details"
view
each time I use the "open" selection. A real time waster when you open

Is there any way to set the default value to open to the "Details"

right question, Tweak UI or Power Toys did not seem to mention. I am
sure
there is probably a registry settings.
