Re: Key Strokes Don't Display at Startup

None of the suggestions seemed to resolve the problem. My wife came up with
the obvious solution - do a restore 2 b4 the problem occurred. All is well
now! This can be closed.

Kelly,
I tried 5X and holding down keys. The Use Shortcut box is unchecked. I
rebooted and the problem is still there? i.e. when I start or reboot, the
characters I type don't display. I have to hold down the SHIFT key until it
makes a sound to be able to display characters on the screen. This is weird!

Hi,

Try pressing the shift key fives times and/or hold down both shift keys at
the same time. Also, under Accessibility Options, Settings uncheck Use
Shortcut.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Someone was pressing the Shift Key too long and we ended up with Swift
key
or whatever that is. We straightened it out by exiting the application.
BUT
.. now every time we start the computer or restart, key strokes don't
display
on the screen. The only way to fix it is to hold down the Shift Key for
awhile until it makes a sound and then you can type characters which
display.
It happens only when we start the computer. There must be a switch
setting
I'm missing somewhere?

Computer is Laptop Dell 2600 Inspiron running XP Home.
Help!
