It said it was an iso. but after download, I extract, and it's just a bunch of files and folders. How do I make a bootable c.d. out of that? You said "it said it was an iso", how did it say it, in the docs, what was the extension of the file you downloaded. I only question because and actual .iso file I can extract too. And I'll get files too.

I have to burn it to a c.d. as an iso. so How do I do that? I have Nero and when I click the option for "burn image to disk" I have to browse for the file. and when I go to the location of the file, it's not shown, I think that's because it's not an iso. Can anybody help me please? If your confused I'll make it simpler. Windows xp professional in a rar archive, how do I burn it to disk to use it as a windows c.d. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If its a rar file, you have to extract the contents with winrar or maybe winzip.
If the extracted file is an .iso file then you are ready to go with nero.
Else it could just be files and folders in which case you burn then just like any other data files. But this will not be a bootable disc most likely.
You can of course use any cd burning software to burn the files and folders. That's a no brainer.
Nero has a burn bootable CD on the menu but you have to have the boot loader. In the writeup for remaking your Windows XP CD with slipstreamed SP3, it talks about using nero but you have to extract the microsoft boot off the original CD so nero can make the boot. I would just google "make boot Cd" or such and see what you come up with. On all the web there has to be directions on making a boot disc when you don't have one.
There are downloadable BartPE etc cd's that you might boot with then switch CD's.
