After reading through that thread, I tried the two things which seemed to be
suggested, which were to -
1) check through msconfig; I did not see an entry that seemed to refer to
the my computer page
2) follow a sequence recommended by a different respondent, using regedit to
get to a certain key in the 'right pane under Userinit' that this person
thought might have two 'C:\\Windows\System32\Userinit.exe' entries separated
by a comma, and need to be made single; however, mine was already single
Thanks for your reply, Joe. Any other ideas?

arriving at my desktop for less than a second, the 'My Computer' page loads,
so that I always have to close it to get (back) to my desktop and begin
working. I suspect this is a minor problem, with an easy fix, and I'd
appreciate guidance to correct it. This is regarding XP Home Ed. Thanks.

In Regedit, press Home key, then press Ctrl/F. Place "Runonce" into the
search pane (no quotes), deselect the "Values" and "Data" boxes, and
click Find Next.
When located, cursor up one position to Run and see if there are any
entries that look wrong. Press F3 twice to continue the search, to
bypass the previous "Runonce" find. If there's no Run just above
"Runonce", press F3 to continue the search.
If you find an entry you think could be the cause because of a syntax
error, post it so we can look at it.
